Englisc Warrior Collection - Coppergate / York Helmet

The Coppergate (or York) Helmet is one of the finest examples of English craftsmanship. Dated to around 750 AD, the original was forged from iron for the plates, and a copper alloy for the decorative nose guard. The Coppergate Helm would have been worn by an Anglo-Saxon Thegn, most likely in the Northumbrian Kingdom.

The images below are based strongly on the design of the Anglo-Saxon Coppergate Helm. The runic message across the top of the helm has been changed from "In the name of our Lord Jesus the Holy Spirit God the Father and with all we pray. Amen. OSHERE XPI." to "Lest We Forget" as a show of respect to our ancestors that gave their lives to protect our land. Other aspects of the original have also been changed, e.g the engraving has been imported from various sources of Anglo-Saxon artwork. The engraving on the stand is also taken from the Sutton Hoo helmet, rather than the Coppergate.
